About

Business Intelligence is hot! Once an obscure corner of knowledge, a bit of terminology that only hardy sales consultants used regularly, BI has long since established itself as a cornerstone of management decision making around the world. The number of people working with it have multiplied, money is being made (always a plus) and the People That Matter have, after careful deliberation, judged that BI Matters. And they are dead-set on making you notice. Everybody has an opinion these days, with a website to prove it. Guru-ism is obviously on the rise.

But what about the rest of us? What about that vast legion of consultants and developers toiling hard to click and code those super-drill-downable reports,  fancy restartable ETL, and sexy normalized star schemes? People who know their thing, but don’t worry about the CEO all the time. Sure it’s important to talk about BI & SOA, about Business Cases, about The Consequences Of Vendor Consolidation. But once us guys (or girls - and we got names to prove they exist) get to the coffee machine, that will not be the topic of  conversation. We want to know about the tools, about the tricks, about the gadgets. About how you make that impossible graph you always see in Cognos commercials or how to teach Informatica Powercenter to play rock-paper-scissors.

So: here’s to us. Here’s to the stuff that we care about. Go someplace else for BI mega trends and all that other big managing consultant-talk. Here you’ll read about the Things That Really Matter.
